Zarafsha Ahmed

Zarafsha is 26 and from Sehna. Her husband, Shaban Ahmed, runs a stationery shop in their village. The family returned to Hashim Welfare Hospital for Zarafsha’s antenatal checks for her second pregnancy; she had first given birth to a daughter here five years ago. The family had a good relationship and trust with Dr. Yasmin and the maternity team. Zarafsha was expecting twins.

Low blood count:
At about 34 weeks doctors found that Zarafsha had a low platelet count, affecting how her blood clots. This meant that she would need a transfusion and special care for her babies. After she came for a planned c-section, there were no blood products available at HWH. Rather than making her wait, the team decided to refer her to another hospital. However, this wasn’t successful so Zarafsha returned to HWH and the team acted quickly to arrange blood products to be delivered.

A relieved family:
The team successfully performed the c-section, and Zarafsha was blessed with two healthy baby boys. Mother and babies are doing well and the newborns didn’t require specialist care. Zarafsha and her family were extremely happy and grateful. Their confidence in the team, and the rapid coordination that made the safe delivery possible, underline the hospital’s commitment to reliable, compassionate maternity care.
